In the Mühlviertel “Schlossmuseum” in the old castle keep and spread over 9 floors, a great variety of artefacts ranging from folk art and religious objects to reverse glass paintings are on display, all inextricably connected with the history of Freistadt and the Mühlviertel region. The exhibits lovingly collected and presented whisk you back to bygone days. The walk up to the museum is rewarded with a magnificent view of the town and its environs. Every Friday at 5 pm from May to October you can join a guided tour with no advance booking required.
