The baroque city Schärding and the neighbouring German town Neuhaus came up with a perfect idea for the wintery cold season: Schärding is ablaze with colourful lights and the whole city changes into a sparkling world of experience!
When twilight falls, an enchanting blaze of lights awaits you at the town square. Every evening, 3 different motto shows spread a taste of Christmas spirit. As part of these shows, the latest technological light instalments transform the old “Feichtinger”-building into an impressive world of lights.
Shedding the perfume of cinnamon and cloves cosy Christmas cottages around the big Christmas tree guarantee a peaceful atmosphere and invite guests to warm up and enjoy a cup of mulled wine or punch.
However, not only the town square offers a warm welcome to visitors. An illuminated circular trail through the whole city leads adults as well as children alongside glistening alleys and luminous facades – one or another building shimmers in various colours. Shining Christmas decoration, the illuminated castle “Schloss Neuhaus”, a polar bear selfie-point and a magic carpet for children are just some of the highlights along the trail. Every Saturday at 5 o’clock pm, professional guides offer tours through the baroque city and present their broad knowledge about Schärding’s history.
