During the summer months, a varied event program is offered in the alpine town: On 10 dates in the summer, you can enjoy the perfect end of the day at “Beats& Beer“. The restaurants in the Alpine town become the stage for regional artists and artists. The musical entertainment is paired with culinary delicacies and refreshing drinks.
In July, the Milka Chocolate Festival delights young and old visitors. The Alpine town is bathed in the color purple and numerous acrobats, musicians, dancers, magicians and clowns make children’s eyes sparkle.
In August, everything revolves around short films at the Alpinale Short Film Festival in Bludenz. The Alpinale is an internationally renowned short film festival and is one of the oldest film festivals in Austria. In 1982 the foundation for the Alpinale was laid with the Bludenz Film Days. In 1985 the festival was organized for the first time under the name Alpinale and has been held as open-air since the beginning.
The „Funkenzunft Bludenz“ organizes the annual „Fastnat“- and „Funken“ weekend. „Fastnacht“ is the last night before Lent or, in a broader sense, the days and nights before. Traditionally, there is a colorful hustle and bustle in Bludenz in the form of various events as well as a large carnival parade. On the Sunday after Ash Wednesday, traditional fireworks and the “Funken” are set off in Bludenz. Throughout Vorarlberg, spark towers made of piled up wooden materials are ignited on this Sunday to drive away winter. In Bludenz, there is a „Funken“ in the new design since 2019. Since the safety distance to the old „Funken“ could no longer be guaranteed, the tower is now no longer built from pallets and old Christmas trees, but with pallets and “cookies” (tree slices). The „Funken“ Sunday is accompanied by a torch building course and a torch parade.
