The Baden coffee bonbon, also called “Badener Zuckerl”, was first mentioned in 1883 in the annals of the Lower Austrian marksmen’s club that was given the honour of organizing the 3rd Lower Austrian provincial shooting competition. The riflemen planned a very lavish event, decorating flower bouquets with the “Badener Zuckerl” to welcome Crown Prince Rudolph. Since then, the “Badener Zuckerl“ have been regarded as ‘ambassadors’ of Baden.
Today, these traditional sweets are still being produced in the Lehner Café and Ullmann Café, using exquisite whipped cream, granulated sugar, freshly brewed coffee and Austrian alpine butter.
