From the Lehár Festival to the imperial and royal wine festival
In the era of the emperor, artists such as Franz Grillparzer, Johann Nestroy and Franz Lehár and other celebrities strolled along Ischl’s esplanade on the waterfront of the River Traun, leaving their mark on the present. The Lehár Festival, held annually between mid-July and late August, is considered one of the most exciting operetta experiences in Europe. A host of other events ensure a jam-packed calendar of events in Bad Ischl. Daily concerts held in the health resort gardens or in the historic pump room, the imperial and royal wine festival, or the “Imperial days“ series of events featuring a royal festival, a royal mass and a royal stroll are only excerpts from this calendar.

20 winemakers offer unique quality wines from various Austrian wine-growing regions for tasting, enjoyment and direct purchase. A varied music program frames the gastronomic pleasure and ensures an exuberant mood. So: Dirndl and lederhosen out of the closet and let’s go!

Imperial Days
Around the 18th of August, Bad Ischl commemorates Emperor Franz Joseph I’s birthday with numerous festivities. With lots of charm, a little bit of nostalgia and a healthy pinch of ironic amusements, the imperial town serves a varied cocktail of celebratory festivities welcoming everyone to join in!
